Campaign Description
Early intervention changes a child's trajectory. For families who cannot afford it, that window closes quietly.
This fund provides therapy sessions, assistive devices and early intervention support to children with disabilities whose families cannot meet the cost. Devices include hearing aids, wheelchairs, walking aids, orthopaedic supports and communication aids. Alongside the devices, the fund covers assessment and initial therapy so that each child is referred to the right service rather than simply given equipment.
Priorities
- Hearing, mobility and communication devices for children in greatest need
- Early intervention and assessment sessions
- Home-based caregiver training to ensure devices are used correctly
- Nutrition and wellbeing support for children and families in treatment
A contribution here is often the difference between a child who is referred to therapy and a child who receives it. Every device is allocated through a documented needs assessment, and every allocation is reported back to donors.
Give a child the equipment and therapy they need to participate fully at school and at home.
Children with disabilities and developmental challenges in Nairobi and surrounding communities, prioritised by clinical need and by families who cannot access or afford services privately.
